Bastian Schweinsteiger, 22-year-old Bayern Munich midfield maestro told German magazine Sports-Bild last week that he is still weeks away from playing again after picking up a knee infection from a tick bite. German coach Joachim Loew hoped their attacking midfielder, 43-time capped Schweinsteiger, one of Germany's top performers at last year's World Cup, will be fit for June's Euro 2008 games against San Marino and Solvakia.Because of the persistent knee injury, Schweinsteiger will miss his country's Euro 2008 qualifiers. Germany are top of Group D, level on points with the Czech Republic and the Republic of Ireland. The second round of qualifying matches will begin from June 2 and end by November 21.
