Shay Given, the Newcastle goalkeeper was recalled to the Ireland squad on Tuesday for the two Euro qualifying matches next month. Given missed Ireland's 4-0 friendly win over Denmark last Wednesday with a groin injury. He was also absent from Ireland's 1-1 draws in friendlies against Bolivia and Ecuador in the United States in May. Coach Steve Staunton said that he has been training since last Monday and doing very well. Ireland plays Slovakia on Sept. 8 and against Czech Republic in Prague four days later. Germany leads with Group D with 19 points, followed by the Czech Republic with 14, Ireland with 13 and Slovakia with nine.
